THE BOUQUET APP
Designed to help users create and order bouquets for the special events in their lives. Our target users include brides, bridesmaids, and gift-givers for other important occasions such as anniversaries/birthdays/etc. This app presents a very appealing and efficient way for users to customize and order their own bouquets online
I was the sole UX designer on this project and am responsible for this app, start to finish.
Personas
Early on in the design process, I decided to create personas to effectively represent the store's target user group. This will help me to understand the journey the user takes while using our app.
These personas were created with characteristics of our target users in mind, together with the information gathered during my first round of interviews with research participants.
The personas created help me to understand user pain points, user needs, and additional information that helped me to create a design tailored to our users.
Paper Wireframes
At the beginning of my design process I created wireframes for testing purposes. I iterated with paper wireframes before moving onto digital wireframes.
Digital Wireframes
Here I began to flesh out the main user flow. I did not worry about iconography, typography, or imagery at this stage. After I completed digital wireframes, I moved onto my first usability study.
Research Plan
My research plan includes the project background, my goals for the usability study, the questions I intend to answer during my study, Key Performance Indicators, Methodology, and a script. The study was conducted over two days with five participants.
Usability Study
The image below is a screenshot of the notes I took during the usability study. I included notes about user feelings, user tasks, and user feedback. The study was conducted unmoderated and remotely.
Mockups
These were my first mockups. I focused on iconography, color pallet, and typography. I continued gathering feedback and iterating on my design that helped me create my final product.
Prototype
This is my high fidelity prototype. After receiving more feedback and ideating further, this was my final product.
Considerations
The Bouquet App was designed with all types of users in mind, especially those under-represented and marginalized in today's society. Here are some accessibility considerations that went into my design.
Takeaways
The Bouquet App was designed with busy and creative users in mind. It is accessible and easy to use for people with different needs and abilities. It is unique to The Bouquet Shop and will be an asset to their growing business.
Usability studies have shown that users with different priorities can all benefit from an inclusive and enjoyable design. The ability to iterate through out the design process ensures that the best design will be selected for the final product.
Next Steps
Conduct more user research with a wider range of participants to gather feedback from users who are not in the target user group.
Follow up with customers to make sure all needs have been met through the app.
